Kleinbasel

The Rhine divides the city into Gross- and Kleinbasel. The latter has a multicultural and creative charm that makes it an attractive location for taking a leisurely stroll.
The most important cultural feature and highlight on every Kleinbasel visitor's calendar is the "Vogel Gryff," which takes place every year in January.
But Kleinbasel is also worth a trip during the remaining eleven months of the year. Stroll along the Rhine, visit the Tinguely Museum or the Basel fair and indulge yourself in one of the many cafés or restaurants.
The Hotel Wettstein offers you the perfect starting point for all this. Our staff will be delighted to tell you about the best places to visit in Kleinbasel.

Basel and the surrounding area

The true centre of Basel is in the old town on the Grossbasler side with its famous cathedral and market place – with its equally famous 14th century town hall – and numerous winding alleys.
The Rhine can be crossed conventionally using one of five bridges or – more romantically – on board one of four passenger ferries. The historic ferries are intrinsically linked to Basel and are a must for every visitor to the city. Don't miss out on the opportunity to cross the river at least once with minimal effort, just by using the current.
Basel and its surroundings boasts many attractions, which include the
Fondation Beyeler, the Stadtcasino Basel, the Augusta Raurica Roman city and the Aquabasilea water and wellness world. The city is also conveniently located near to France and Germany.
Our staff will be happy to provide you with advice and assistance for your exploratory tour of Basel.
